Our office and production staff have the knowledge, equipment, and proper training needed to assist in the event of an emergency.

So, how does SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville use drying science to assist with water damage?

Our priority in the event of water damage is to create ideal conditions for drying. Our technicians manipulate the humidity, air flow, and temperature to speed up the drying process and evaporation of moisture that has been absorbed into porous materials.

What is humidity? It lowers the moisture content of the drying air. SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills use various types of dehumidifiers to remove water vapor from the air and turn it back into liquid water.

What is air flow? The water that evaporates from the porous materials becomes a boundary layer. SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville utilize equipment like air movers to remove this boundary layer and replace it with the warm and dry air from the dehumidifiers.

Our SERVPRO technicians have the knowledge and experience to monitor and control the above factors to ensure that your residential home or commercial property is stabilized and restored to preloss conditions quickly and efficiently.

Call SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville at 916-933-3890. Our water mitigation experts are available 24/7 to help with any emergency services.

Flood vs Sewage Water

10/1/2022 (Permalink)

Our approach to treating water damage in El Dorado Hills homes is dependent on which category it falls into:

Category 1 or Clean Water

Clean water is just that. Water that has come from a source that is not contaminated. Examples of this include a pipe bursting or a refrigerator supply line leak. Although clean water can cause significant damage to your El Dorado Hills home, it is not considered hazardous to human health as there are no microbes in the water. The biggest hazard clean water presents is if the area that has been damaged is not properly cleaned or dried out. This can result in organic growth – mold damage.

Category 2 or Gray Water

Gray water is water that is slightly contaminated – usually because of the nature of the source or because of neglect. Examples of this include when a washing machine overflows and a toilet overflow that contains urine. Clean water can become gray water if it left untreated for an extended period of time.

Category 3 or Black Water

Black water is highly contaminated and dangerous to human health because black water can include toxic materials such as bacterial diseases, chemicals, microbes, and more. Sewage based components such as bacteria, fungi, feces, viruses, and parasites. Category 3 situations are usually caused by sewage backups or overflows and flooding. Examples of this include bathtub back up or toilet overflow that contains feces.

Any water damage that is not treated correctly will eventually elevate to the next category. Even a simple pipe burst can turn into a biohazard and mold issue if not treated.

If you have any water damage in your home, call SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville at 916-933-3890 for service that you can count on. We are available to assist you in El Dorado Hills, Cameron Park, Shingle Springs, Diamond Springs, and Placerville.

SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville Water Damage Process

5/30/2022 (Permalink)

SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville know that water damage is more common than any homeowner would hope. A few of the common sources of water damage besides storms and flooding include, but are not limited to:

  • Sinks and bathtubs overflowing due to drainage issues
  • Toilets overflowing due to drainage issues
  • Poor sealing around showers, tubs, and toilets
  • Leaking appliances and fixtures such as dishwashers, washing machine, water heaters and more
  • Water and chemicals sprayed by firefighters
  • Sewage backups
  • Plumbing blockages, leaking pipes, and burst water mains

It is helpful to know the most common source of water damage to minimize the potential for it happening.

So, what do you do once it happens? How does SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville get your house back to normal?

Here is a basic breakdown of the process, from start to finish.

Step 1: You can minimize further damage

Water damage is a process that can progress quickly, or very slowly. Either way, you want to act fast to try and stop as much of that process as possible. A few minutes can be the difference tearing out the floor in one room and tearing out the floors and walls in half of your home.

If the water is originating from your plumbing or a fixture, shut off the main water valve in your home. If there is a great deal of flooding, shut off the power to avoid accidental electrocution from appliances and wiring in the affected areas. Consult us before considering removing carpeting and underpadding.

Call SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville for help and inform your insurance company. For insurance purposes, hold onto all receipts for items and services procured to deal with the water damage.

Step 2: Assess the extent of the damages and provide emergency services

The first thing we must do when we get on-site is to inspect your property and assess the situation. It is very important at this stage to determine if contaminants are present in the water because this will affect the restoration process. Water contamination generally falls into three categories:

  1. Clear water. This is water that is fresh out of the faucet and uncontaminated.
  2. Gray water. It is water that contains dirt and other contaminants, but it is not toxic or disease-carrying.
  3. Black water. This is water that could be potentially disease-carrying, due to harboring harmful microorganisms. Black water is biohazardous, and black water contamination should only be handled by a restoration specialist like SERVPRO.

Once we know how contaminated the water is, and have taken the necessary safety precautions, then we can thoroughly assess the level of damage to your property, and the presence of other materials that may be a safety hazard, such as asbestos or lead.

Step 3: Removing the water

If necessary, we can assist with moving your contents to help remove water from the loss area. Once the area has been cleared, our technicians and use our truck mount or portable to extract water from the affected area to remove any standing water as quickly as possible.

Once the water has been extracted, then we can determine whether any existing carpeting or attached floor covering need to be removed to protect subflooring, and the extent of the damage to floors and walls. We have a variety of tools for detecting where moisture has penetrated.

Step 4: Drying structure materials

To salvage as much of your home or other structural property as possible, we must ensure that all moisture is removed from the materials. Wood flooring and drywall can look dry to the naked eye, but it can retain a great deal of water without looking visibly moist. Without immediate remediation of this, long term damage such as swelling, warping, and the growth of mold can result.

Our industrial grade fans and dehumidifiers are used to maintain constant air circulation and to actively extract moisture from surfaces within the affected area.

Step 5: Cleaning, deodorizing, and sanitizing affected surfaces and items

Drying alone is not enough. Without the proper sanitization, mold may grow and spread, causing odors, unsightly stains, and ultimately, additional damage to your home and property.

We aim to provide full water damage restoration and help to prevent secondary damage to your home. Call SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville at 916-933-3890 to assist you with water damage. We are available 24/7 for emergency services.

Water Damage and Home Safety Tips for El Dorado Hills Residents

4/28/2022 (Permalink)

When you have water damage to your home, SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville will respond quickly to prevent further damage and begin the water repair and restoration process.

Water Damage and Home Safety

When you suffer from water damage in a home, it is important to note the steps that could have led to its prevention. Plumbing, storm, or flood issues can be extremely costly and typically require immediate action to remediate.

Leaking Supply Line

Washing machines have supply lines that face constant pressure. The problem lies in whether or not the washing machine contains supply lines composed of PVC or rubber. These can easily rupture and wear out, which can result in an entire laundry room flooding in the span of a couple of minutes if you fail to shut off the source of water in time.

Air Conditioning Condensation

AC units are designed to produce condensation in which moisture drips from the evaporator coil into a pan and is ejected from a property via a drain line. This system works until damage is taken by the pan or the drain line becomes clogged with dirt or dust. When water cannot escape, it will leak out from your AC straight into the house. All that unwanted water can damage the walls, floors, and weaken the insulation.

Blocked Drains

Any drain, regardless of whether it is a kitchen sink, bathtub, or bathroom floor, can clog for a variety of reasons. Grease buildup, dirt, hair, toiletries, and other foreign objects have the potential to obstruct the pipe and prevent proper drainage. When not taken care of on a routine basis, they can easily back up, resulting in water damage and flooding.

SERVPRO’s professionals specialize in repairing and restoring following residential water damage. Call SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville at 916-933-3890.

SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville Offers Water Damage Prevention Tips For Your Home

4/28/2022 (Permalink)

Water damage is a nightmare that every homeowner hopes to never happen to them. Water could come from leaking pipes, a neglected roof repair, or a flood that started outside - these possibilities could ruin floors, walls, furniture, and personal keepsakes. By taking simple precautions, it can help you avoid expensive mitigation and contractor repairs. If you would like to learn more about preventing water damage to your home, keep reading.

Tip #1 – When buying a new home, check for mold & water lines

The first tip is to make sure that you are not taking on an old problem with a new house when buying a new home. As you walk the home's exterior, look for water lines close to the foundation where signs of previous water damage can be seen. This will tell you whether or not there have been previous problems. Additionally, sometimes mold will grow behind baseboards when a wall gets wet time after time.

Tip #2 – Take advantage of extras in your security system

Many modern security systems will not only provide a warning if an intruder gains entry to your home, but they will also include flood sensors that they often place under sinks or next to washing machines. You can also put these flood sensors next to doors where you may have had issues in the past.

Tip #3 – Monitor your water pressure

One of the first signs that there may be an issue inside your home is a slight drop in your water pressure that remains constant. This can signal a leak in a pipe in the foundation or under your home where it is not readily visible. If you do not have a way to measure or monitor your water pressure, keep an eye on your water bill for extremely unusual usage; this may also mean the same thing.

It does not always take a natural disaster to cause significant water damage. Your home can be susceptible to water damage through all different types of issues within the home. We hope you use these tips to help prevent water damage and find them helpful.

SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville offers a 24/7 emergency and water damage cleanup that is Faster To Any Size Disaster. Call 916-933-3890 to have an emergency response crew at your home within hours.

Water Damage Restoration with SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville

3/30/2022 (Permalink)

The world of water damage restoration is one of intricacy and precision. For restoration strategies to be a success, they need to be backed up by the right equipment and skills. This can mean something as sturdy as a pair of safety boots or an industry specific tool like a moisture meter.

The assortment of tools put together for every job reflects the uniqueness of water damage restoration. As every task is different, so too is the toolkit. While not all water damage requires technicians to rely on heavy duty equipment, there are some occasions when demolition tools are needed to remove compromised materials as fast and as safely as possible.

Personal Protective Equipment

Whether the level of risk posed by contaminants is high or negligible, technicians are required to wear protective clothing. This gear includes rubber gloves, rubber boots, safety goggles, and a breathing device to filter potentially harmful gasses and particulates. Hazmat suits are required under extreme clean up conditions such as blood clean up and severe sewage back-ups. In areas where moisture has been present, mold, mildew, and bacteria must be taken into account.

Moisture Meter Devices

The moisture meter is one of the most important tools for a water damage restoration specialist. This device is utilized to measure the moisture percentage of materials so that technicians know which areas are affected and need attention most urgently. It is not possible to make these kinds of assessments by sight alone, so a moisture meter is an essential part of the restoration toolkit. Hygrometers detect the relative humidity in an open environment to ascertain the level of humidity in the ambient air.

Drying and Products

Once most of the standing water has been extracted from the property by industrial grade water pumps like our truck-mount or portable extractor, more precise drying techniques can begin. There are some various tools which can be used to help with this. Industrial sized high-velocity fans, air movers, dehumidifiers (refrigerant and desiccant for larger jobs), and heaters are often used after standing water has been dealt with, and only small amounts of liquids and moisture remain.

SERVPRO technicians can put the finishing touches on the water damage in a property by using antimicrobial products to sanitize and remove lingering odors. The well-equipped vehicles of SERVPRO also carry air scrubbers and ozone machines, if needed. Call SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville to restore your property to its pre-water damaged condition "Like it never even happened."

Our advanced equipment helps to detect hidden moisture, extract the standing water quickly, and thoroughly clean and dry your home. SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville will finish the job with professional deodorization and sanitizing agents for your comfort and safety. Call us 24/7 for an immediate emergency response at 916-933-3890.

What To Do If you Notice Water Dripping From a Light Fixture?

4/6/2021 (Permalink)

blue tap near light fixture moisture reading water damage near by near me near camino near el dorado county near Placerville A customer had water damage in Kingsville. Water dripping from light fixtures is not safe. Call SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville, we'll help you

Water dripping from a ceiling light fixture can be extremely dangerous and deserves immediate attention. That is because electricity and water can be a dangerous combination. Most people understand that water drips can come from their plumbing fixtures, but some do not consider that it is also possible to suffer water damage in your light fixtures. To ensure your family’s safety, SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville recommends these steps that can help you to safely resolve the issue.

Utilities

Turn off the electricity. Water can conduct electricity from an active electrical line, and that can become an extremely dangerous situation as the current flows through the metal parts of the light fixture. Any contact with the electrical current from the fixture and the source of water can cause electric shock. To stay safe, better to turn off your electricity for home through the breaker box.

Determine the Source of the Water

Once the electricity is off, try to figure out where the water is coming from. If the source of the water is a leaky pipe, you should turn off the water main valve to your home to prevent the spread of water. Leaving the water flowing can develop more ceiling damage.

Draining

The water drips often and causes protrusion in your ceiling. If that is the case, you may consider draining the area.

Have the Light Fixture Replaced

To replace the light fixture, first contact a professional water damage specialist to fix the leak. Once the water has been removed and the leak has been repaired, you should have an electrician replace the light fixture. Do not attempt to do the repair by yourself, you may end up making the problem worse and causing more damage or injuring yourself.

Water in a light fixture can be dangerous and can cause injury as well as damage to your house. Take every precaution and allow professionals to do the most important work.

If you notice a problem and need water damage mitigation and restoration, SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville will provide trustworthy and effective water damage restoration services. Call us at 916-933-3890.

Common Causes of A Leaky Ceiling In An Apartment Building

4/2/2021 (Permalink)

rectangle cut out ceiling showing wood framing water damage in ceiling near me leaky ceiling nearby near camino near placer A customer called about water damage, ceiling leaking water in Somerset. We travel through El Dorado County to help with restoration services! Call us

Leaking is the most common problem in apartments. It is a serious business and if left unchecked, it causes major damage. Apartments are subjected to structural ceiling leaks the same as any home. Because there are different people living on other floors, structural may not always be the cause of leaks. Ceiling leaks can be a frustrating issue, so it is best to ascertain where the leak is coming from, if possible, then notify the apartment manager as soon as you can.

  1. BATHROOM LEAKS

The two most common types of leaks in a bathroom are from the toilet or the bathtub. The leak could be caused by a leak in your upstairs toilet. A toilet leak is usually a result of some sort of a break or defect in the seal of the wax ring that adjoins the toilet to the floor. Every time a toilet is flushed, it causes water to penetrate through the bathroom floor and into your ceiling. A bathtub leaks if the drain gasket is bad, or the caulking has deteriorated around the sides of the tub. Each time the tub is used, splashed or draining water leaks through the floor and comes through the ceiling.

  1. PLUMBING LEAKS

Plumbing leaks generally are from pipe joints or drains. Pipes run through walls, so a plumbing leak may begin where the ceiling and the wall come together. The ceiling may show signs of leaking water. The wall directly beneath the leaking ceiling also may show signs of water damage as the water runs down the inside of the wall.

  1. ATTIC LEAKS

Water leaks occur through roof failure, ice dams, and water condensation or frost build-up inside an attic. Rainy weather causes the first type of leak. An attic above an apartment may leak and deposit water anywhere onto a ceiling wall and causes leaking at any point.

If you are a renter or a property manager or owner and you think there might be a water damage situation, do not forget to call SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville. We are dedicated to responding immediately when you contact us. A fast response lessens the damage, limits additional damages, and reduces the overall potential cost. Water Heater Failure in Rescue

3/23/2021 (Permalink)

water heater in open space with green equipment A customer called about a water heater failure causing water damage in Rescue, CA. We responded with emergency services to resolve the issue ASAP.

It is not easy to go without hot water, especially when the seasons change, and the weather becomes cold!

Like other appliances in your house, water heaters may fail. And that can lead to cold showers — or even worse, a water leak. A burst water heater is a nightmare scenario for any homeowner. Standard water heaters contain up to 40-120 gallons of water, so when one unexpectedly leaks or bursts, it can cause an immense amount of water damage. If pressure builds up in the tank, you will have a problematic situation that will eventually become dangerous if not addressed.

Wondering why your water heater is failing? Here are some of the reasons – and what you can do help prevent a failure:

  1. Internal rust

They typically last several years, but it is a good idea to check your anode rods every year – or bring in a professional to look. If they look worn down, it is time to replace them.

  1. Sediment buildup

When water is heated, mineral deposits separate and settle onto the bottom of your water heater tank. Flush your water heater at least once a year.

  1. High water pressure

Water pressure that is too high can damage your water heater, as well as your pipes and other appliances. Keep the water pressure on your heater no higher than 80 psi and consider replacing your temperature and pressure relief valve.

  1. Corrosive fumes

Problems can occur if the air quality is poor. Especially dangerous is corrosive air, which can corrode your tank and lead to water heater failure. Keep corrosive substances like ammonia and bleach far away from your water heater.

  1. Wrong size heater

Water heaters come in a variety of sizes to accommodate the water usage of all the people and appliances in your home.

  1. Old age

Water heaters typically last about 8 to 12 years. If your water heater is old, consider replacing it with a newer, more energy-efficient mode.

Do not let an overflowing water heater turn your home into a water park. If you notice your water heater is on the fritz, call water damage specialists immediately. Please call us SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville at 916-933-3890.

Hardwood Floor Water Damage

3/11/2021 (Permalink)

holes drilled in baseboard trim with green fan on hardwood floor water damage in el dorado hills near me nearby near camino Customer called regarding water damage on hardwood floor in their El Dorado Hills home. We are here to resolve your issue as quickly as possible!

Hardwood flooring is beautiful. Homeowners prefer to have this floor at home. Unfortunately, this type of flooring is prone to water damage.

Here are causes of hardwood floor water damage:

  1. Leaky roof spilling onto the floor
  2. High humidity in the home
  3. Spills that are not cleaned immediately
  4. Tracking rain or snow into your home
  5. Tracking swimming pool water into the home

Any source of water can damage your floor. If you notice water on your floor, SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville advise you to clean it thoroughly. Otherwise, the hardwood will absorb the water causing secondary damage.

There are many ways to protect your floor!

  1. Taking extra precautions to protect your floor from typical sources of water like a splash from the kitchen sink or wet boots coming in from the outdoors by placing absorbent mats where water is an issue. Using a silicone mat, or a silicone backed mat, to prevent soaking through.
  2. Placing towels down temporarily when you expect water from a pool, rain, or another temporary source of water.
  3. If the water stains are white spots on your flooring, they are simple to remove. Use your floor’s polish and rub the stain away gently with a soft cotton cloth.
  4. Drying the floor naturally and slowly with fans and plenty of airflow through the space. Open windows and doors (unless the outdoor air is more humid than the indoor air) and run fans to move air through the space.
  5. Laminating the flooring. This material is highly vulnerable to water damage and swells when it gets soaked

If you have significant damage, or if you have a particularly valuable hardwood floor, it is wise to work with a professional to get it repaired. A restoration company can help you replace boards that are perfectly matched with your existing floor. Call SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville at 916-933-3890. We have a 24/7 Hotline.

Water damage may be the most common form of property damage, but nobody likes to deal with it. Whether it comes from a leaking pipe, a heavy rainstorm, or appliance failure, water causes a great deal of damage to both building materials and furnishings, and it will continue to wreak havoc until it’s removed. This is one job it’s better to leave to us, SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville. We handle water damage restoration for a variety of reasons, along with other services.

We Find Hidden Water Damage & the Leak Source

Sometimes it is easy to locate the source that caused the excess water in your home; for instance, a failed water heater is spraying water all over, is most likely the culprit. In other instances, the source may be tougher to find, like a broken pipe in a wall or a crack in the foundation can easily be overlooked. Whatever the source, if the leak is not corrected in a timely manner, there will be a never-ending cycle of flooding and cleanup until it is fixed. Water can get into places most people wouldn’t think to look and cause damage that can go undetected until it’s too late. Our highly trained restoration technicians know how and where to look for water damage, as well as for sources of leaks.

Heavy Duty Equipment & Products

As water damage mitigation professionals, we utilize the most advanced equipment and products in the industry. Our equipment is usually not available to members of the general public, often because using them requires specialized training. Carpet vacuum cleaners aren’t designed to remove water, and commercially available shop vacuums may not be able to handle an extensive flood. Here at SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville, we own heavy-duty dehumidifiers, air movers, fans and vacuums. Our water extraction equipment can remove large amounts of standing water and the dehumidifiers and air movers can even extract water from damaged materials. We even have meters to do moisture readings and moisture mapping. All done by trained professionals so secondary damage can be prevented.

Fast Responses & Time Saver

When you find signs of water damage in your home or business, it is important to act quickly before even more damage occurs. Wasting time tracking down resources and manpower gives rot and mold more time to ruin furnishings and building materials. That’s why it’s best to call a water damage restoration company that offers 24 hours, 7 days a week emergency services. Leaving cleanup to the professionals frees you and/or your staff to continue running your life or your business.

Reducing Costs & Insurance Help

Working with a water damage mitigation company like us, SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville may save you money in the long run. As a restoration company, we will also help you file a claim with your insurance provider for any property that was damaged by the flood or by mold. Since we frequently work with insurance adjusters, we know exactly what paperwork is necessary and the best ways to file claims!

No matter if it comes from rain, sewage backups, or broken pipes, we will respond quickly to begin the mitigation process before the damage can spread further or harmful mold or bacteria can begin to grow. Our highly trained technicians remove excess water; dry, dehumidify, and disinfect the area; restore structural elements and personal items; and remove all traces of mold from your property.

Any time you find excess water in your home or business, call the water damage restoration experts at SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville at 916-933-3890.

Water Categories: Clean Water, Gray Water, Black Water

Did you know that the water either coming into your home or from your home due to busted pipes or leaks has what we call a “category”? When it comes to handling mitigation in your home it is better to allow the professionals at SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville to deal with the emergency because you must treat the water correctly to be safe. You never know what is either in your water or what the water has passed through to create contamination.

The information we have provided below explains the main types of water damage and could help you identify the problem quickly if it ever happens to you!

Category 1: Clean Water

Category 1 water is the cleanest, clearest, and most non-toxic form of water damage. It is potable water, perhaps directly from the tap. It is unlikely to cause you any harm, even if you are exposed for some time. Nevertheless, even clean flooding can lead to electrical and structural faults, so it is safer for you to call in the experts for repairs. Clean water comes from things like a broken water supply line, tub or sinks overflowing with no contaminants, appliance malfunctions involving water-supply lines to name a few. however, once clean water leaves the exit point, it might not remain clean after contacting other surfaces or materials. Although it is considered the "safest" of the categories, it can degrade to Category 2 or 3 if left untreated.

Category 2: Gray Water

Gray water damage is a little bit more serious and requires a fast-pace removal process. This is because it may contain potentially unsafe levels of chemicals, microorganisms, or dirt. Examples of Category 2 water include, but is not limited to: overflow from dishwashers or washing machines; overflows from toilet bowls with urine; and broken aquariums. If left untreated, it can quickly degrade into Category 3.

Category 3: Black Water

Category 3 water is grossly contaminated and can contain pathogenic, toxigenic or other harmful agents. Category 3 water can include, but is not limited to: sewage, toilet overflows, flooding from seawater, rivers or streams, ground surface water, or other contaminated water entering the indoor environment.

The team at SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville is skilled in the safe handling of the different categories through training and protective clothing to eliminate the risk of sickness. Give us a call for any type of water damage at 916-933-3890.

When your property incurs water damage, whether it is a water ring on the ceiling, a leaking pipe, loose faucet, or a flood of standing water, acting quickly is important! When you first discover the water damage, you can count on SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville to help you. We have a six-step restoration process to restore your property to its pre-damage condition.

Here are the six steps to water damage restoration

  • Initial Emergency Contact

You can call us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to begin the water restoration process because taking immediate action is crucial after the water damage occurs. When you call us, we will ask questions to get an overview of the damage and to help us determine what resources we will need to dispatch accordingly to resolve your situation.

  • Inspection and Damage Assessment

When we arrive on the scene in response to water damage, we will do a detailed property inspection to assess the damage, identify the water source, the category of water, and check for safety concerns. From there, we will develop a thorough plan of action and provide an estimation for our work.

  •  Moisture Extraction

Utilizing our extraction and pump units, the water extraction process will remove most of the moisture. We will start this process as quickly as possible to lessen the likelihood of secondary damage occurring. We can also help you move out of your belongings if they might be damaged as well.

  • Dehumidifying and Drying

After the excess water has been removed, we can begin fully drying all porous materials that have absorbed water. Our industrial-grade equipment moves air quickly and helps moisture to evaporate as fast as possible, which will dry out floors, walls, and carpets as well as discourage mold growth.

  •  Cleaning and Repair

After sustaining water damage, impacted surfaces will typically require professional cleaning. In addition to structural cleaning, we will clean your belongings that are able to be restored. We will also do odor removal to prevent the musty odor that water-damaged furniture can develop.

  • Restoration

The final step is ensuring that your property is restored to its pre-water condition. This will involve things like drywall and flooring repairs or even reconstruction. By working with SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville, you are working with a company that can handle all elements of the restoration, including the difficult reconstruction parts that truly restores things back to their pre-damaged state. We also handle restoration and construction.

How We Cleanup Water Damage After A Flood

10/22/2020 (Permalink)

two washing machine valves behind the washer unit Customer had water valve burst in laundry room. SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville ensures all water damage repairs are carried out successfully.

Water damage can come from different sources, and understanding the importance of categorization can help with the water damage impact. Water damage comes in varying intensities, danger levels, and reach of damage. As a homeowner or property owner, you wonder “how a company such as SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville handles comprehensive water damage cleanup?” Learn some of the ways our technicians control and repair water damage in our local residences and commercial properties.

Step 1 - Identifying the Source and Water Type

Water damage must be correctly identified by source and water type. For instance, did it come from a storm or flood, or was a pipe burst or leak? There are also different categories of water to identify - either clean, gray, or black, each one with different safety and cleanup protocols. If necessary, our crew will work to stop the water flow as quickly as possible, to avert further damage to your home.

Step 2 - Surveying Damage and Mold

After we understand the type of damage we are handling, our technicians search the home visually and utilize moisture detection equipment to find out what areas have been affected, and what further action needs to be taken. Lastly, our crew looks for signs of mold growth, which takes priority in a cleanup operation.

Step 3 - Furniture and Water Removal

Next step is to remove all the furniture from the affected areas, and pump out the water if necessary. Our company uses industrial-grade machinery to pump water from the interior to the exterior of the home, with either a portable or a truck-mounted pump.

Step 4 - Drying and Odor Treatments

Additionally, we bring out more heavy machinery to begin drying and deodorizing the affected area, to make sure no more damage or mold growth occurs and any odors are removed.

Step 5 - Carpet Removal and Final Cleaning

In some cases, the carpeting in a room will need replacing. We make sure to evaluate carpeting carefully for moisture so as not to incur extra expenses. Sometimes, a cleaning may only be necessary, particularly when water damage is contained early on. Once the final cleanup and sanitization is completed of the surrounding area, the furniture is brought back into the home or rooms affected.

SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville employs certified and well-trained technicians who are experienced with all kinds of water damage restoration and cleanup jobs. If you need our services for any type or volume of water damage to your home, call us at 916-933-3890 for 24/7 emergency service. 4 Ways to Prevent Water Damage in your Home while on Vacation

10/14/2020 (Permalink)

Bathroom ceiling removed showing the structure, vent ducts, and copper pipe lining to the attic Copper lining in attic leaked causing water damage to the bathroom ceiling, which collapsed breaking the vanity.

The worst time for water damage to occur is when the homeowner is away.

Picture this: you come home from vacation to find your home damaged with water. Your first thought is “who do I call for help?” If you experience water damage while away, get the service of a professional like us, SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville.

Here are some tips to prevent water damage:

  • Turn off Water Sources

By turning off the main water valve, this controls the water that enters your home. Turning off water sources could save you from headaches when you return. If the water main is not turned off, pressure could build up in pipes, which may lead to leaks or a pipe burst, causing your house to become flooded. If you have never shut off the main water valve, make sure to test it by turning on a faucet before you leave

  • Check Your Appliances

Before leaving the house, check your washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, and refrigerator(s) for leaks. Consider replacing damaged supply or drain lines as well. Do not forget toilets or sinks, these are where common leaks occur!

  • Have someone checking in on your home

Consider having someone check up on your home regularly if you plan to be away for several days or weeks. Having someone check on your home could help detect any water leak issues. At the same time, you are gone and prevent any damages from escalating if detected and fixed early.

  • Check Your Home For Leaks

Pay attention to the pipes under your sinks or behind your appliances. Deal with any rust, cracks, pipe damage, or drain repairs as soon as possible. Check your windows and doors for any loss and fix to prevent rain from entering while away.

As a professional restoration company, SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville, we take pride in our expertise, and with our “restore” versus “replace” mentality, we can help you save money while preserving precious keepsakes that can’t be replaced. Call us at 916-933-3890 to ensure all water damage repairs are carried out successfully to guarantee the safety of your property.

Rats and mice can be one of the most destructive pests in a home or structure. Not only do they leave traces behind of feces, nests, and urine, but they also chew.... ON EVERYTHING!

Quick fact about rats and mice; their teeth never stop growing. This is why they are constantly chewing and gnawing on different materials in order to file down the front teeth. Flood in Downtown Placerville

Ladies and gentlemen, the rainy months of the year are just around the corner! Are you prepared for the storms that will arise this winter?

Last year, Downtown Placerville experienced a dramatic flood loss due to the river stream rising above ground level. Dozens of shops and stores flooded early in the morning due to an excessive amount of rain, and when employees and owners arrived to open their doors, storm water came spewing out.

Many shops did not have flood insurance, and because of this, their doors closed indefinitely. Don't let the weather take control of your life. Be prepared this season with the right insurance policy tailored to your geographical region, the surrounding elements such as rivers and streams, and make sure to keep valuables up and off of floors.

SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville is ready for whatever may happen this season, and we hope you are too. Please give us a call if you have an emergency, and we can assure that someone will get to you ASAP. It's our job to keep our community safe and informed.

Water Losses

9/19/2017 (Permalink)

SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville understands the need for immediate restoration services when your place of business has a major water loss. Not only does the water need to be extracted, but a professional should evaluate what kind of water made its way into and onto the carpet/flooring.

There are three categories of water when working in the restoration industry. First, we have category 1 - this will be clean water most likely coming from a toilet tank, sink, or refrigerator. The water will not contain contaminants and it will mostly likely not cause any kind of sickness if ingested. Category 2 water losses are typically from washing machines, dish washers, and any loss that may have been going on for over a week. Not many people know that soap is in fact a contaminant. Last but not least, we have category 3. This will include any kind of sewage loss that may occur in a business. Sewage is obviously something that will make you very sick if ingested due to all of the bacteria and viruses that run through our sewer system. If you do have a sewage loss, please call SERVPRO of El Dorado Hills/Placerville right away, and we will be there as soon as possible to clean up the mess.
